The Otium social promotion association was founded with the primary goal of raising awareness of rare degenerative diseases, particularly cerebellar ataxia. The association, in pursuit of civic, charitable, and socially beneficial purposes, carries out one or more of the following activities of general interest, as per Article 5 of the Third Sector Code, for its members, their families, or third parties, primarily relying on the volunteer work of its members:
- Cultural activities of social interest with educational purposes.
- Organization and management of cultural, artistic, or recreational activities of social interest, including activities, including editorial ones, for the promotion and dissemination of culture and the practice of volunteering, and the activities of general interest referred to in this Article.
- Open and transparent fundraising to protect those who choose to donate their time or financial resources to find long-awaited solutions for the treatment of ataxia.
- Organization and management of tourism activities of social, cultural, or religious interest.
- Help and support for patients with cerebellar ataxia and their families.
- Fundraising and support for education and the dissemination of information about the disease, adhering to the principles of truth, transparency, and fairness with supporters and the public.
- Commitment to and support for all aspects of medical and scientific research.
